On behalf of our client based in Heywood, we are recruiting an Alarm & CCTV Operator.

Working in a small team within our client’s 24 hour alarm monitoring centre, the role will be working a 12 hour shift from 7am to 7pm on a 4 on 4 off basis, 365 days a year (including weekends and bank holidays as required)

The successful candidate will undertake a 6-8 week training program which will be paid at a reduced rate of £11.44 per hour. This will increase to £12.00 per hour after training, and after a 6 month period you will be eligible to join the company bonus scheme which can increase the hourly rate up to £13.00 per hour depending upon performance.

The company monitors premises nationwide including Betting shops, pubs and small retail outlets, as well as domestic alarms.

Duties will include:

  • Handling alarm incidents with audio surveillance, and also audio with supporting CCTV
  • Types of incidents handled can include medical emergencies, armed robberies, abusive customers, burglaries and also customer false alarms
  • Looking and listening in at sites after alarm/panic button activation to establish what is happening and act accordingly
  • Responding promptly to incidents and take appropriate action
  • Where necessary contacting and dealing with emergency services
  • Speaking directly over audio system during incidents where applicable
  • Maintain accurate records and write detailed reports on any incidents
  • Routine testing of equipment to ensure all in working order
  • There will be an occasional need throughout the year (on a rota basis) to cover evening weekend shifts which will be paid as overtime at time and a half

Skills and experience required:

  • The successful applicant ideally should have an SIA CCTV Operator badge. Consideration will be given to applicants without but they must be willing to complete the CCTV training course at own expense
  • Previous experience in a similar role is desirable
  • Strong attention to detail and observational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to communicate over audio system with a clear and commanding voice
  • Computer literate
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Ability to multi task

The role would be well suited to ex-emergency services or ex-military personnel.
